Ajit Agarkar urged to 'communicate' with Bhuvneshwar Kumar for ODI World Cup: 'We'll need him in South Africa'

Ravichandran Ashwin urged India's selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, to communicate with Bhuvneshwar Kumar for the ODI World Cup 2027.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 36, took 28 wickets for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2026 but hasn't played for India since November 2022.

Ashwin suggested getting Bhuvneshwar to play Vijay Hazare Trophy to be prime for South Africa, saying 'we'll need him'.

Bhuvneshwar has played 121 ODIs for India, taking 141 wickets, with last ODI appearance on January 21, 2022 against South Africa.

The ODI World Cup 2027 will be hosted in South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe across 12 venues.
