Mumbai: BMC To Roll Out WhatsApp, Google Messages For Property Tax Bills And Payment Alerts

BMC plans to use WhatsApp Business and Google Messages for property tax bill alerts and payment reminders, with a tender of Rs 2.03 crore over three years.

Taxpayers with completed KYC and linked mobile numbers will receive WhatsApp notifications with bill details, QR code payment, and digital receipts.

Taxpayers without KYC will get property tax communication through Google Messages.

Property tax is BMC's largest revenue source, collected from over 10 lakh properties in Mumbai.

BMC exceeded its 2025-26 property tax collection target, collecting Rs 7,610.90 crore against Rs 7,341 crore.
