Supreme Court approves country’s first night safari in UP's Lucknow

Supreme Court approved India's first night safari at Lucknow's Kukrail Reserve Forest.

The Uttar Pradesh government had obtained clearance from Central Zoo Authority (CZA) and Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC).

The court directed compliance with conditions imposed by statutory authorities and Central Empowered Committee (CEC) recommendations.

The CEC Member-Secretary will conduct periodic visits and submit reports on the project.

The order was passed by a bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant on July 16, 2026.
