SAD (Punar Surjit) faces rebellion as several leaders, including Iqbal Singh Jhunda, announced unconditional support to Akali Dal Waris Punjab De, led by Amritpal Singh.

Shiromani Akali Dal expelled Jhunda from primary membership for six years due to anti-party activities.

Jhunda and Santa Singh Umaidpuri said the move aimed at strengthening 'Panthic unity' and filling a political vacuum in religious and political fields.

SAD general secretary Gurpartap Singh Wadala said Jhunda violated party discipline by making the announcement without consulting the coordination committee working on Panthic unity.
