Mumbai Sessions Court Denies Bail To Retired LTMC Deputy Dean In Alleged ₹70 Lakh MBBS Admission Scam

Mumbai sessions court denied bail to Rakesh Verma, 62, retired Deputy Dean of Lokmanya Tilak Medical College, in an alleged ₹70 lakh MBBS admission scam.

Verma was arrested on a complaint by Dr. Ramchandra Shukla, who paid ₹70 lakh for his daughter's MBBS admission under management quota.

The court noted 8-10 similar crimes registered against Verma, reflecting a modus operandi of issuing fabricated admission letters.

Shukla received a letter bearing the signature of Dean Dr. Mohan Joshi, but later found all documents were fabricated.

Verma claimed false implication and no financial benefit, but the court accepted prosecution's objections and denied bail.
