Heavy rain lashes Mumbai as Tansa Lake overflows; reservoir stock rises to 62%

Mumbai recorded average rainfall of 36.65mm in the city, 48.70mm in eastern suburbs, and 64.91mm in western suburbs in 24 hours ending 8am Wednesday.

India Meteorological Department issued a yellow warning for moderate to heavy rain with gusty winds up to 50-60 kmph.

Tansa Lake began overflowing at 8.51am Wednesday, making it the third reservoir to overflow after Vihar Lake and Tulsi Lake.

Combined water stock in seven reservoirs rose to 61.90% of total live storage, holding 8,95,907 million litres.

High tides of 3.27 metres at 5.57am and 3.32 metres at 5.30pm were expected on Wednesday.
