Bombay HC Gives BMC 7 Days To Clear Garbage Around Mumbais Heritage Sites, Warns Ward Officers Of

Bombay High Court gave BMC seven days to clear garbage around Mumbai's heritage sites, warning ward officers will be held responsible.

The court expressed 'grave doubt' about the effectiveness of BMC's 'Swachh Mumbai, Sundar Mumbai' campaign, citing garbage on Western Express Highway and elsewhere.

The court criticized garbage transfer points near heritage landmarks like Bombay High Court, Institute of Science, Rajabai Tower, and Horniman Circle.

The court was hearing petitions related to the Kanjurmarg dumping ground, filed by Kannamwar Co-operative Housing Society Association Ltd.

BMC's senior advocate Anil Sakhare assured immediate action; the court also directed MPCB to enforce environmental laws, with next hearing on August 12.
