28 trees felled without permission in Chattarpur, NGT seeks action report

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed the Delhi government to file an action taken report on alleged encroachment of forest land and illegal tree felling in Chattarpur.

trees, including neem, peepal, siris and subabul, were felled without permission from the designated tree officer at a farm in Ambedkar Colony, Chattarpur.

A joint committee formed by the NGT on January 30 found that 28 of 125 trees at the site had been cut without permission.

Revenue records confirmed the land is classified as forest land, and action is being initiated against those responsible for encroachment.

The NGT directed the Delhi government to file a status report within six weeks.
