High-speed rail proposal lacks details: CM Satheesan

Kerala cabinet put on hold the high-speed rail project proposed by E Sreedharan and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

Expert committee cited absence of detailed environmental and social impact studies, calling the proposal incomplete.

Committee recommended no land acquisition or surveys due to lack of passenger capacity data and financial viability.

Chief Minister Satheesan said the government wants to avoid mistakes of the previous K-Rail project.

The committee advised Kerala to conduct its own studies on freight, transport models, and land availability before proceeding.
