Maharashtra Govt Restores Option Of Printed Newspapers For Ministers After Revising Earlier Order

The Maharashtra government revised its July 30 order, allowing ministers to choose between printed or online newspaper subscriptions.

The amendment modifies paragraph 3 of the Government Resolution (GR), restoring the option of physical copies for ministers, deputy chief ministers, and ministers of state.

The clarification was issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) on August 1, overturning the original decision to discontinue printed newspapers from September 1.

The government spends about Rs 22 lakh annually on newspapers and periodicals, with the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) accounting for approximately Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000 per month.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's office and residence continue to receive printed newspapers and magazines, with expenses borne by the GAD.
