Mumbai Monorail Restart Delayed Despite Safety Clearances; Commuters Await Official Reopening Date

in5points
Mumbai Monorail has completed all statutory safety clearances for resuming operations under its upgraded CBTC signalling system, but the MMRDA has yet to announce a reopening date.
Trial runs continue daily along the 19.54-km corridor between Sant Ghadge Maharaj (SGM) Chowk and Chembur, while commuters grow impatient over the delay.
The upgrade includes installation of CBTC signalling, 10 new Made-in-India monorail rakes, and refurbishment of the existing fleet.
