Pakistan spinner Mohammad Nawaz sanctioned by ICC for breaching anti-doping code: 'Substance abuse'

Pakistan spinner Mohammad Nawaz tested positive for Carboxy-THC under the ICC Anti-Doping Code after a match against Netherlands in Colombo on 7 February 2026.
Nawaz accepted a three-month suspension effective from May 1, 2026, but the ban will be reduced to one month upon completing an ICC-approved substance abuse treatment programme.
He had voluntarily accepted a provisional suspension from May 1, 2026, and has already served two-and-a-half months; his provisional suspension is now lifted.
All his results from the T20 World Cup match against Netherlands on February 7, 2026, and subsequent matches up to May 1, 2026, have been disqualified.
The Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed that the ICC informed them about the matter, and the PCB began due process in April 2026.
