Mumbai: JJ Hospital Performs First-Ever TAVI Under MJPJAY, Bringing Advanced Heart Valve Treatment to Public

Grant Medical College and Sir J. J. Hospital performed its first TAVI under MJPJAY on a 63-year-old patient from Jalna.

The patient had severe aortic valve stenosis and complex coronary artery disease, and was high-risk for open-heart surgery.

The Heart Team performed coronary angioplasty before the TAVI procedure.

The entire cost was covered under MJPJAY, making the advanced treatment accessible to economically weaker patients.

The procedure was led by Dr Ajay Mahajan, with Dr Kalyan Munde (Head of Cardiology), Dr Samkit Mutha, and the CVTS and Anaesthesiology departments.
