Chhattisgarh CM announces DSP post for CWG silver medallist Gyaneshwari Yadav

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced a cash reward of ₹30 lakh and an out-of-turn promotion to DSP for weightlifter Gyaneshwari Yadav.

Yadav, 23, from Rajnandgaon district, won silver in the women's 53kg weightlifting at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Yadav was previously appointed as an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) in Chhattisgarh police in August 2023.

The CM said the decision recognizes her achievement and aims to motivate other athletes.

Yadav had earlier won a bronze medal at the Asian Weightlifting Championships.
