Cabinet nod likely today for Rs 84,000-crore deep-sea oil & gas exploration programme

India's Union Cabinet is expected to approve the Rs 84,000-crore Samudra Manthan Project, a deep-sea oil and gas exploration programme.

The project, also called the National Deep Water Exploration Mission, aims to strengthen India's energy security.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the Samudra Manthan Project on August 15, 2025.
