Two Bengaluru airport runways to allow parallel departures from September

Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) will begin simultaneous departures from both runways from September.

Airports Authority of India (AAI) issued standard departure charts for runway 27 L and 27 R to allow parallel departures.

Parallel departures will reduce taxi time, save fuel, and increase peak-hour departure capacity.

KIA's passenger capacity is expected to reach 80 million per annum by 2030, with Phase 2 of Terminal 2 increasing capacity from 25 MPPA to 45 MPPA.

Union minister Murlidhar Mohol stated that the pre-feasibility study for a second Bengaluru airport has been sent to Karnataka, but no proposal has been received yet.
