eBay to pay $56 million to settle harassment lawsuit brought by US couple

eBay will pay $55.7 million to settle a harassment lawsuit filed by Ina and David Steiner, who run the EcommerceBytes blog.

The Steiners were allegedly targeted after publishing critical coverage of eBay in 2019, including receiving live cockroaches, a bloody pig’s head mask, and a funeral wreath.

Former eBay CEO Devin Wenig allegedly texted that it was time to "crush" Ina Steiner, and employees traveled from California to Massachusetts to stalk the couple.

Seven former eBay employees were convicted and sentenced to prison terms, and eBay paid a $3 million criminal penalty in 2023.

The civil settlement includes $48.7 million paid to the Steiners by eBay and former employees.
