The Central Government raised the minimum procurement price for Grade-A onions to ₹2,335 per quintal, effective July 30, marking the seventh hike in the current season.
Procurement began at ₹1,350 per quintal and has increased by ₹1,085 per quintal within 90 days.
The revised rates were announced via an official order by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.
Procurement of Grade-URS onions has been discontinued from July 30; only Grade-A onions are now eligible under the scheme.
The price increase aims to encourage farmers to sell to NAFED and NCCF centres, providing financial relief and increasing arrivals.
