Dehradun teacher dowry death: Husband, sister-in-law arrested amid outrage

Dehradun police arrested Saurabh Khatri, 36, a state secretariat official, and his sister Surbhi Khatri alias Charu, 37, in connection with the dowry death of a government school teacher.
The arrests came after a video surfaced in which the deceased alleged months of harassment by her in-laws; she was found dead on July 29 at her matrimonial home in Harrawala, Doiwala.
An FIR was registered on July 29 under Section 80(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the husband, mother-in-law Praveena Devi, and sister-in-law, based on a complaint by the victim's mother.
Senior Superintendent of Police Pramendra Dobhal stated that evidence led to the arrests and that they will request the court for a speedy trial.
