INS Malvan Commissioned at Kadamba Naval Base; Indigenous Warship to Hunt Enemy Submarines

Indian Navy commissioned the indigenously built warship INS Malvan at INS Kadamba Naval Base in Karwar.

Built under the Make in India initiative with nearly 80 per cent indigenous technology at Cochin Shipyard Limited.

INS Malvan is an anti-submarine warfare vessel equipped with the advanced Abhay Sonar system to detect and engage enemy submarines.

The warship has a length of 78 metres, a beam of 11.26 metres, a top speed of 25 knots, and a crew of 57 personnel.

It is armed with a 30 mm Naval Surface Gun and advanced anti-submarine weapons for coastal and maritime security missions.
