Ludhiana: Food safety drive finds hygiene lapses, contaminated food

FSDA drive in Ludhiana on Monday found hygiene lapses at two bakeries on Tibba Road and a Domino's outlet in Sundar Nagar; hygiene challans were issued.
At a dry fruit store in Civil Lines, insect-infested raisins and fly-contaminated mishri were destroyed; samples of almonds, walnuts, and cow ghee were sent for lab analysis.
FSDA served a notice to a distributor over misleading labels on Hell Energy Drink, Monster Energy Drink, Amul Sugar Free Ice Cream, and Kinder Joy; the distributor was ordered to stop selling and initiate recall.
Food samples (pastry, cake sponge, jam roll, pastry cream) were collected from bakeries and sent to the State Food Laboratory; further action depends on findings.
In a joint operation with Punjab Police, cigarette retail outlets were inspected for imported cigarettes lacking mandatory pictorial health warnings; DHO Dr. Ashish Chawla warned of strict legal action.
