PCMC issues show-cause notice to fire officer over Moshi tragedy

PCMC issued a show-cause notice on July 17 to former deputy fire officer Rishikant Chipade over the Moshi garbage depot tragedy.

The notice alleges Chipade issued a final Fire NOC for the building without verifying the sanctioned plan or conducting a site inspection.

The building had a provisional Fire NOC in 2019, but the final NOC was granted for a G+2 structure despite a revised plan allowing only G+0.

Chipade is accused of violating the Maharashtra Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, the Maharashtra Fire Prevention Act, and the National Building Code.

On July 15, PCMC suspended two officials for lapses linked to the incident, which killed nine people.
