Punjab: Govt teacher suspended after students’ complain of inappropriate conduct

  1. A government social studies teacher at Government Middle School, Mothanwali village, Moga, was suspended after girl students of Classes 6 and 8 complained of inappropriate physical contact and threats to fail them if they reported.

  2. The suspension followed directions from Punjab education minister Harjot Singh Bains after a preliminary report by the Moga district education officer (secondary).

  3. Bains stated the Bhagwant Mann government has zero tolerance for teacher misconduct and ordered a time-bound inquiry, promising strictest action if charges are proven.

  4. During suspension, the teacher will receive subsistence allowance and must report daily to the office of the district education officer (secondary).
