Azamgarh: 3 killed as diesel tanker catches fire after crashing into transformer pole

A diesel tanker crashed into a transformer pole and caught fire near Maltari-Mirzapur under Jiyanpur police station area in Azamgarh district, Uttar Pradesh, early Tuesday.

Three people in the tanker died in the fire, which engulfed the vehicle within minutes.

One victim was identified as Pradeep Kumar (26), a resident of Bhikhampur village under Mehnagar police station area.

Six fire tenders were deployed; the tanker was completely gutted before the blaze was controlled.

Police have cordoned off the area and are investigating the cause of the accident; identities of other victims are being established.
