Armed with fresh licence, Jakkur flying school set to soar again

Government Flying Training School (GFTS) at Jakkur, Bengaluru received DGCA approval to resume training after its licence lapsed three years ago.

The runway length was extended from 612 metres to 754 metres, providing trainee pilots with more distance for take-offs and landings.

DGCA confirmed that the adjacent National Highway flyover (33 feet high) does not pose an obstacle, as training aircraft reach 100 feet by the runway threshold.

DGCA test pilots conducted successful flight trials using the full runway to verify safety margins over the flyover.
