Reno fire update: New brush fire in Peavine as forward progress of blaze near Sparks stopped- check map

The 11-acre Barron Fire near Sparks in Washoe County had forward progress stopped on July 21, 2026, but embers continued burning and smoke persisted.

A new 10-acre Peavine Fire broke out west of Golden Valley near Red Rock Road at the base of Peavine, south of Sierra Nevada Zoological Park.

The Peavine Fire grew to 20 acres and was located south of Red Rock Road, with no structural threats due to mountainous vegetation.

The fire south of Sparks near Reno-Tahoe International Airport was fully under control, with no structures damaged.

Double R Boulevard remained closed from Double Diamond Parkway to Maestro Drive due to a vehicle accident.
