Dipika Chikhlia criticizes Sai Pallavi's casting in Ramayana

Dipika Chikhlia, who played Sita in Ramanand Sagar's 'Ramayan', said Sai Pallavi's casting as Sita in Nitesh Tiwari's 'Ramayana' is historically inaccurate, noting that 'Sitaji with curly hair is not mentioned in Ramayan'.

Chikhlia praised Pallavi as a phenomenal actor but questioned how she will look as Sita, citing Tulsidas' description of Sita with almond eyes, specific height, hair, and skin.

Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi as Sita have faced criticism for 'not looking the part', with Pallavi's struggle with spoken Hindi inviting trolling.

Nitesh Tiwari's 'Ramayana' is planned as a 2-part film, with Part 1 set for Diwali 2026 release and Part 2 expected in Diwali 2027.

Arun Govil, who played Lord Ram in the original series, was cast as King Dashrath in the new adaptation, while Chikhlia was not cast.
