Karnataka raised thermal power output by 55% due to poor monsoon reducing reservoir levels and hydropower generation.

Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) now generates 84.34 million units (MU) daily in July, up from 54.47 MU last year.

KPCL aims to increase thermal generation to 100 MU per day to avoid expensive power purchases.

Coal stocks increased from 12 days to 15 days, with a target of 20 days by arranging 17-18 coal rakes daily.

Among thermal stations, Raichur Thermal Power Station (RTPS) saw the highest jump, from 13.12 MU to 24.45 MU per day.
