Meta CEO Zuckerberg must apologise: Parliamentary Panel
India's parliamentary committee rejected Meta's apology for removing a video of PM Narendra Modi and demanded a personal apology from CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
Committee chairperson Nishikant Dubey warned of removing Meta's safe harbour protection if Zuckerberg fails to comply.
The committee questioned Meta and other platforms over algorithms and unlawful content, including CSAM, deepfake scams, and harassment of women.
Dubey said removal of Modi's video was either a system failure or a deliberate attempt to tarnish the PM's image.
The video was later restored by Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
