Dombivli Doctors Assault Case: Bombay HC Defers Decision On Shiv Sena Corporator Ramesh Mhatres Release Until
The Bombay High Court deferred its decision on the release of Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) corporator Ramesh Mhatre in the Dombivli doctors assault case until August 6.
The court said it would assess the progress of the police investigation before deciding on Mhatre's release.
The police informed the court that investigation steps like voice sample collection, identification parade, and witness statements are pending and will be completed within two weeks.
The Indian Medical Association and amicus curiae opposed Mhatre's release, citing witness pressure and incomplete investigation.
The court directed police protection for doctors and victims, and noted the municipal corporation had not accepted resignations of two doctors who allegedly quit out of fear.
