Chandigarh: Organise regular outings for senior citizens, says human rights panel

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) suggested organizing regular outings for senior citizens at the Sector 15 senior citizen home in Chandigarh to promote their wellbeing.

NHRC special monitor Balkrishan Goel conducted a two-day inspection of institutions including the Senior Citizen Home, Sector 15, Children Home (Snehalaya) for Boys, Maloya, Observation Home and Place of Safety for Boys, Sector 25, and an Anganwadi-cum-Creche, Sector 41.

Goel reviewed case files, rehabilitation plans, counselling services, and vocational activities at the juvenile facilities, appreciating the UT administration's efforts.

At PM SHRI Government Model Senior Secondary School, Dhanas, he assessed safety and security arrangements, emphasizing an environment of dignity, equality, and child protection.

At Government Civil Hospital, Manimajra, he emphasized accessible and patient-friendly healthcare services.
