Ludhiana: Caretaker booked for siphoning off ₹4 lakh

Caretaker Inderjit Singh of Ferozepur district was booked for siphoning off ₹3.9 lakh from an 82-year-old man's bank account via UPI transactions between July 16 and July 22, 2026.
The accused was hired through a caretaker agency by the family of a professor at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU).
Inderjit Singh allegedly stole the victim's debit card and SIM card on July 15 to access banking services and conduct unauthorized transfers.
The fraud was discovered after the accused stopped reporting for duty, prompting the family to check bank records.
A case under Section 306 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered at Sarabha Nagar police station; police are conducting raids to trace the accused and recover the money.
