Mozilla criticizes Microsoft; Stuffcool, Xiaomi launch new products

Mozilla published the Over The Edge 2.0 report accusing Microsoft of using deceptive practices to steer users toward Edge on Windows.

Researchers Dr. Harry Brignull and Cennydd Bowles found Microsoft employs patterns like Trick Wording and Forced Action across Windows, Edge, Bing, and Copilot.

The report analyzed Windows 10 and 11 in the US, India, UK, and Germany; Germany showed a fairer user experience due to the Digital Markets Act.

Kush Amlani, Mozilla's Global Competition and Regulatory Lead, called on Microsoft to respect user choice globally without regulatory pressure.

Microsoft injects a banner into Chrome's download page, and Windows Search and Widgets ignore default browser choices to open links in Edge.
