An explosion near a restaurant terrace at Kudrinskaya Square in Moscow killed 3 and injured 15 on Saturday evening.

The blast occurred at around 2000 local time on the ground floor of one of Moscow's seven Stalin-era skyscrapers.

The injured sustained wounds of varying seriousness; investigators and emergency services worked at the scene.

Russian state TV suggested a gas canister may have caused the explosion, but Reuters could not confirm.
