Bombay HC Grants Interim Protection To Sameer Wankhede In NCB Departmental Enquiry, Admits Petition

The Bombay High Court granted interim protection to former NCB Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede, barring his questioning in departmental enquiries until his petition is decided.

Wankhede challenged NCB notices alleging irregularities in two drug cases, including the investigation linked to actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death.

The NCB stated the enquiries were based on two specific, non-anonymous complaints, denying they were triggered by former minister Nawab Malik.

Wankhede alleged political vendetta, citing his arrests of Aryan Khan in the 2021 Cordelia cruise drug case and Sameer Khan, Malik's son-in-law.

Wankhede also faces a separate CBI case accusing him of demanding Rs 25 crore to spare Aryan Khan, in which he already has interim protection.
