Rath Yatra Launched To Rally Support For August 5 Protest Seeking Dinkar Patil Name For Navi Mumbai Airport

A Rath Yatra was launched from Ghansoli to rally support for the August 5 'Chalo Jantar Mantar' protest in New Delhi, demanding that the Navi Mumbai International Airport be named after late social activist Dinkar Balu Patil.
The proposal to name the airport after Patil was unanimously passed by both Houses of the Maharashtra Legislature but has awaited approval from the Centre for three years, fuelling resentment.
The one-day symbolic protest at Jantar Mantar on August 5 is part of a wider awareness campaign across the Konkan region's five coastal districts.
The Rath Yatra, which began at Shri Hanuman Mandir in Ghansoli, received support from local villagers, social workers, the Shri Devasthan Sanstha Gavki Ghansoli, and the 29 Gaon Sangharsh Samiti.
Project-affected leaders and activists, including Jagdish Gaikar, Rashmita Popeta, and Deep Patil, urged citizens to participate in the Delhi protest.
