Curb illegal manufacture, storage and smuggling of liquor: CM Soren to excise dept

Chief Minister Hemant Soren directed excise department officials to strictly curb illegal manufacture, transport, sale, and smuggling of liquor.

Soren stated illegal liquor production impacts government revenue and poses a serious threat to consumers' lives and health.

Excise department generated revenue of ₹4,013.53 crore in 2025-26, surpassing the target of ₹3,885.11 crore; a target of ₹4,500 crore set for 2026-27.

Soren instructed officials to maximize use of modern technology in excise operations and prioritize local tribal community in warehouse construction.

Soren directed expediting recruitment for vacant positions through Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission to ensure departmental efficiency.
