Uttarakhand to establish Sanskrit commission, seeks suggestions

Uttarakhand government plans to form a Sanskrit commission to preserve, enrich and promote the language.

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said Sanskrit has a special place in Uttarakhand’s heritage.

Suggestions from Sanskrit scholars, teachers, researchers, universities, Gurukuls and enthusiasts are invited by August 10 via email.

The commission will work on Sanskrit education, manuscript preservation, skill development, and use in administration and AI.

Uttarakhand granted Sanskrit second official language status in 2010.
