Historic first at Commonwealth Games as Braille medals debut in Glasgow

Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games introduces medals with Braille and tactile elements for visually impaired athletes.

The medals feature a unique Reuleaux triangle shape inspired by Glasgow's coat of arms.

Engraved patterns draw inspiration from the Finnieston Crane and textured finish reflects tartan, symbolizing Scottish heritage.

The medal was designed by artist Militsa Milenkova, artist in residence at the Glasgow School of Art.

This is the first time Commonwealth Games medals include Braille, marking a step towards greater accessibility.
