Goraguntepalya tunnel plan moves ahead with detailed project report tender
Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) floated tenders for a consultant to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for a 4.5 km tunnel road connecting Kanteerava Studio underpass to BEL Circle via Goraguntepalya Junction.
The proposed six-lane tunnel is estimated to cost around Rs 3,000 crore and aims to ease chronic congestion at Goraguntepalya, where Outer Ring Road (ORR) intersects Tumakuru Road (NH-48).
This is the third tunnel road proposed by the Congress government; earlier tunnels include Hebbal-Silk Board (17 km) and Hebbal-Veterinary College (2.2 km).
The consultant will conduct traffic studies, geological investigations, utility mapping, and environmental assessments to finalize alignment and project details.
BDA will coordinate with Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) to ensure the tunnel design is compatible with the planned double-decker flyover along the Kempapura-JP Nagar Metro corridor.
