Compound walls, trenches for additional security in Bangalore University

Bangalore University is constructing compound walls, fencing, and trenches on its 1,200-acre campus to strengthen security.

The project includes 2,395 metres of ornamental fencing, 4,590 metres of chain-link fencing, a 203-metre retaining wall, and a 1,182-metre compound wall.

Trenches will be built in forested areas, as stated by PM USHA coordinator Ashok D Hanjagi.

The initiative is funded under the PM USHA scheme, which allocated Rs 100 crore to the university for overall development.

Vice-chancellor C Shivaraju said the project aims to prevent encroachments, improve surveillance, regulate entry and exit, and preserve the green campus and biodiversity.
