Pakistan protests Japan's reference to cross-border terrorism in India joint statement

Pakistan lodged a diplomatic protest with Japan over a reference to cross-border terrorism in an India-Japan joint statement.

The joint statement was issued after a meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

Islamabad described the reference as one-sided and alleged that New Delhi pressured Tokyo to include it.

Pakistan's Foreign Office summoned the Japanese ambassador to convey the protest.

Japan has not yet publicly responded to Pakistan's protest.
