PMC to prepare 25-year master plan for water treatment plants

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) was directed by the standing committee to prepare a 25-year integrated master plan for water treatment infrastructure.

The directive focuses on modernising ageing treatment plants and meeting growing demand for safe drinking water.

Standing committee chairman Shrinath Bhimale issued the order after reviewing ageing machinery at the Parvati water treatment plant, linked to turbid water complaints.

Bhimale prioritised modernisation of the Parvati and Lashkar water treatment plants and completion of the proposed new Lashkar facility.

PMC submitted a ₹810 crore proposal to the state government for the Lashkar project, and Bhimale urged expedited tendering and execution.
