Upset over delay, man hurls 11-month-old daughter during naming ceremony in Bengaluru

A man in his early 30s hurled his 11-month-old daughter at a hotel in south Bengaluru on July 17, 2026, during her naming ceremony.

The infant suffered a skull fracture and is out of danger but requires ongoing treatment.

The father was upset over a delay in the ceremony and assaulted his wife and father-in-law before throwing the child.

A hotel staff member who intervened was bitten and injured by the man.

A case has been registered under the Juvenile Justice Act at Banashankari police station.
