Janeshwar Mishra birth anniversary: Looking beyond PDA, Samajwadi Party to host Brahmin outreach on August 5

Samajwadi Party will host a 'Prabuddh Sammelan' (intellectuals' conference) in Lucknow on August 5, the birth anniversary of Janeshwar Mishra, to reach out to Brahmins and other upper-caste voters ahead of the 2027 UP assembly elections.
The event will be held at the party headquarters under a German hangar, expected to draw around 20,000 participants.
SP national president Akhilesh Yadav will be the chief guest; Ballia MP Sanatan Pandey, the party's only Brahmin Lok Sabha member, is coordinating the outreach.
The outreach aims to expand beyond the PDA (Pichda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) formula that won SP 37 Lok Sabha seats in 2024, to counter the BJP's narrative of SP as a Muslim-Yadav party.
The appointment of Mata Prasad Pandey, a Brahmin, as Leader of the Opposition in July 2024 was also seen as a signal to the community.
