BMC's 7.13-km Kasheli–Mulund Octroi Naka water tunnel project will start TBM boring by September.
The 4.5-metre-diameter tunnel, expected to complete by October 2030, aims to reduce transmission losses in Mumbai's water supply.
At Kasheli, excavation of the 128-metre-deep recovery shaft has reached 27 metres; at Mulund, the 134-metre launching shaft is completed.
BMC's 11.61-km Ghatkopar–Bhandup wastewater tunnel will begin TBM work in January 2027 to transport tertiary-treated water for non-potable reuse.
