Is Steam down? Thousands complain issues with launching games; ‘something went wrong’

Steam users reported widespread game launch issues on Monday, July 13, 2026, with over 5,100 outage reports on DownDetector.

Many users saw a 'Something went wrong' error when launching games, and Steam's homepage displayed a message acknowledging downtime.

The outage peaked at 1:28pm EDT with around 6,770 reports, but fell to about 2,200 by 1:43pm EDT.

According to DownDetector, 64% of reported issues were with server connection, 20% with logging in, and 9% with launching games.

Steam has not yet specified a cause for the outage.
