Active monsoon trims UP rain deficit; orange alert till July 22

Uttar Pradesh's monsoon rainfall deficit trimmed to 27% from 29% after active monsoon conditions.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) retained orange alert for heavy to very heavy rain till July 22.

Senior scientist Atul Kumar Singh said the monsoon trough strengthened and became active, extending near its normal position through Hardoi and Varanasi.

Lucknow's rainfall deficit widened to 52%, receiving 109.8 mm against normal 229.5 mm.

East Uttar Pradesh faces a 38% rainfall deficit, while West Uttar Pradesh has a 9% deficit.
