Heavy Vehicle Movement Restricted At Malshej Ghat After NH-61 Road Section Caves In Near Karanjale

Heavy vehicle movement prohibited on NH-61 at Malshej Ghat after a 50-100 metre road section caved in near Karanjale village, Thane district.

The subsidence damaged the concrete road between Km 99/500 and Km 99/600, built in 2023, due to weakening of gabion retaining wall foundation and heavy rainfall.

One carriageway is closed; heavy vehicles including trucks and MSRTC buses are diverted via Panvel route, while light motor vehicles pass with caution.

Continuous rainfall hampers repair work; engineers are monitoring the unstable stretch and restrictions remain until the road is deemed safe.
