Two cops suspended over negligence following shooting incident at UP village

Sarai Akil SHO Sher Singh Verma and Kanaili outpost in-charge Jitendra Pratap Singh were suspended for negligence.

On July 19, Gulshan Tripathi and Rohit Tripathi, history-sheeters with 16 and 15 cases respectively, shot and injured Suraj Singh and Rajiv in Kanaili village.

A prior July 6 beating of Saurabh Singh by the accused was registered but no effective action was taken, which the inquiry report said could have prevented the second crime.

The suspension was ordered by Inspector General of Police Ajay Mishra based on an inquiry by Additional SP Amita Singh.
